Carol Marcy: How to create Heart Centered Living

Welcome to chapters from Carol Marcy’s Creating Peace Inside and Out, Cultivating Heart Centered Living. I am now living on Cape Cod after closing my practice as a holistic clinical psychologist for over thirty years. Heart centered living is my passion. I have come to a time when I want to slow down, spend more time meditating, being creative and fully present to the abundance of beauty and joy in life and Nature.

In order to share the wisdom gathered over the years, I have created this website, meditations on YouTube and Insight Timer and three retreats.  The retreats are based on the philosophy expressed here.  Please check out my website for more information:

The purpose of this website is to share the material from the book Creating Peace Inside and Out.  It is organized in the sections from the book:  introduction, developing heart centered living, bringing it to the family, to the community, to the global community, to the Earth.  These sections are found under categories on the left.  The following is the intention I set as I began to write.

It is my intention to write a book that lays out a probable future for a “new Earth” that embodies the qualities of balance and harmony with love, respect, acceptance, caring, honesty, trust, co-operation and good communication. I have incorporated wisdom from ancient civilizations that successfully created peace for thousands of years, as well as exploring current science, spiritual traditions and stories from everyday people that illustrate these concepts.

We are now a global community of interdependent people, species and environment who have the capacity to live for our highest good as well as the highest good of all of life everywhere. Each one of us is the epicenter of world peace through our commitment to conscious heart-centered holistic living. It is clear that the felt sense of the heart affects the brain in many ways that are far more powerful than just a thought alone. This combination of heart and brain as well as engaging our connection with Nature is key to creating change.

What is the change we long for? What is our deepest hearts desire for ourselves, our families, our communities, our global community, the Earth and the Cosmos? We are in a time of great chaos.  We need to seriously consider how each of us can contribute to making a positive difference, which in turn effects the greater whole.

I have also written another book, Living Life as a Prayer: a guide to healing and wholeness (available on Amazon).  I have put a lot of the meditations from both works on YouTube and Insight Timer, a meditation app in order to offer guidance for daily practice.  The three retreats on Cape Cod help you develop a greater awareness of your own internal experience in order to improve the health and well-being of your body, heart, mind and spirit.

They are based on the premise that when you center your awareness on your heart through meditation and breathing practices, love and appreciation, wonderful things happen.  The way in which you relate to yourself, others and the earth changes.  Internally your moods become more stable and positive.  Your anxiety levels are greatly diminished and your immune system is boosted.  As a consequence, you feel more at home in your own body, are in touch with your creativity and your increased ability to solve problems. Spiritually you have the opportunity to deepen your relationship with All That Is. Check out the website for more details.
